About Me

Hello, my name is Daria, I’m a student in University of Nicosia and I have lived most of my life in Cyprus, which also happened to be around the time I got introduced to Equestrian Sport. The first few years flew by without so much as spending time with horses, but as I turned around 8 years old I started my first proper riding lessons. First at a beginner level, slowly developing into an athlete, and then qualified enough I aimed for the national team of Cyprus, until COVID-19 happened, everything in the world went to a halt, and after a period of rest from competitions I realized that this is not the direction I want my love for this sport to be heading. I realized that for me personally this sport is about grounding down and resting my mind, instead of rushing to achieve and conquer, but the experience from both points of view is exactly what convinced me of it.

Now I’m 19 and I spend most of my free time with horses, taking care of them, training them and spending time with them, while also staying active throughout all of it. Personally, it has become a therapeutic routine which helps recharge during the week. Over the years, I witnessed a lot of people with a similar perspective, I’ ve seen people come in with anxiety and frustration, their attitudes changing over time. I’ ve met parents who brought in their children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or serious cases of PTSD and noticed them begin opening up and communicating easier over time. I’ve witnessed its effect on myself over the years, throughout some difficulties one thing stayed constant and it always brought a sense of harmony to me.

The Goal

The aim of this blog is to bring to the attention of those in the dark of all the benefits this sport has, to highlight the importance of, not necessarily dedicating your whole life to it, but being aware that such practice exists and is easily available all over Cyprus. If interested you can contact any facility closest to you, usually a prior call is preferred, and arrange a visit, first just look around, if interested book a riding or care session, all of the details can be discussed. It’s crucial to carefully follow all rules of each separate establishment to avoid risk for both, people and horses. And I promise, such experience will not fail to move you!
